Allan Barlows Ancestors Anonymous
My expertise lies specifically in Scottish lineage. I train volunteer librarians at Shreveport's LDS Family History Center, helping familiarize them with the different types of Scottish records held there. I have experience researching ship passenger lists, as well as military pension files, and can provide clues to help you find your elusive ancestor. Whether you want to prove an old family story or need to complete a lineage application for a historical society, Ancestors Anonymous can help you.

Scottish Genealogy Society
The Scottish Genealogy Society was founded in Edinburgh on 30 May 1953 by a group of historians and genealogists. The aims of the Society are to promote research into Scottish family history and to undertake the collection, exchange and publication of material relating to genealogy. In accordance with the wishes of the original members, the Society remains academic and consultative and does not engage itself professionally in record searching. Queries from members of the Society will be answered if the information is readily available in the Library, but it is not possible to carry out detailed research. The Society can supply a list of members who are professional searchers, but any commission of this kind must be carried out independently of the Society.

Connecting your Scottish Origins
The Scots Origins database is an online pay-per-view containing fully searchable indexes of the GRO(S) index to births/baptisms and banns/marriages from the Old Parish Registers dating from 1553 to 1854, plus the indexes to births, deaths and marriages from 1855 to 1897. One additional year will be added per annum (1898,1899 etc.) to protect the privacy of living persons.- 1881 and 1891 census data are online.
Searching is possible on the following fields:
Surname - Event type (birth/christening, marriage, death) - Sex - Forename (or first initial)
Year of registration (or range of years) - Age (or age range) - deaths only
Registration District (Statutory Index) - County (Old Parish Register)
Searching is also possible on other names which are mentioned within a particular record
This includes spouse's name, father's name, mother's name and mother's maiden surname, depending on the entry.
