LYDIA A. BARLOW, daughter of George Washington Barlow and Flora Ann Byrd, was born May 15, 1840, and died November 19, 1915.

She married 1)  JOHN C. GOWAN after the 1860 census.  The son of Meredith Gowan and Nancy Powell, he was born c1828, and died c1865.  In 1860, at age 32, John is living in Simpson Co Mississippi with the Charles Banks family.   (This is not proven)
She married 2) ISAAC WARREN BELL c1869.  The son of Isaac Warren Bell and his wife, Eliza E., he was born August 27, 1845, and died March 08, 1927.  Isaac and Lydia are buried in Harrisville Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi

In 1910, Isaac, age 64, and Liddie, age 69, 2nd marriage for both, 8 children born, 6 living, they are living in Forrest Co Mississippi with son Charley. I was unable to locate Isaac in 1920

3. VIRGINIA LULA 'JENNIE' BELL, born May 1872  (I can't help but think she is the same person as Lue, above, making the total children born to Lydia, 8. not 9)

2. MARY ELLA GOWAN, daughter of John C. Gowan and Lydia A. Barlow, was born February 1864 (1900 census) or November 25, 1963 (IGI) and died October 14, 1931.

She married JAMES M. MULLICAN on October 22, 1879 in Simpson Co Mississippi. The son of Harrison Levi Mullican and Amanda Dear, he was born May 29, 1858, and died August 16, 1949.   It is not known where they are buried.   James is also a brother to Frances Mullican who married George Robert Barlow and to Margaret Mullican who married Jefferson Davis Burkett.

MAGGIE LEE MULLICAN, born December 1892 (1900 census) in Mississippi  (January 12, 1994 - January 1981, IGI)
She married CHARLES WASHINGTON LEWIS on April 07, 1916 in Simpson Co Mississippi.   The son of George Washington Lewis and Octavia Dulaney Buckley, he was born April 27, 1892, and died July 24, 1964.  Both are buried in Harrisville Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi.
Known children: JAMES WASHINGTON LEWIS, born Mary 31, 1925 in Mitchell, Sabine Parish Louisiana, and died May 26, 1987 in Jackson, Hinds Co Mississippi, burial in Lakewood Memorial Gardens, Jackson, Hinds Co Mississippi, and CHARLES WASHINGTON LEWIS, JR., born May 10, 1928 in Mitchell, Sabine Parish Louisiana, and died October 29, 1983 in Harrisville, burial in Harrisville Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi

VERNON BRIDGES, born June 30, 1902, and died January 1975 in Jackson, Hinds Co Mississippi.

4. ISAAC W. 'BUD' BELL, son of Isaac Warren Bell and Lydia A. Barlow, has been a major source of confusion.  He was born August 1871 according to the 1900 census, which would make him older than Jennie.

He may have married 1 ) MARY MANNING on December 17, 1891 in Simpson Co Mississippi, she being the daughter of A.C. Manning and his wife, Harriett

He may have married 2) VIRGINIA, c1901.

In 1910, I could not locate a matching person in Simpson Co, but after finding his parents and Charley in Forrest Co Mississippi, I found an Isaac who's age matches the one in 1900, but his family does not.....did he lose his first family and start a new one?

5. GEORGE FLETCHER BELL, son of Isaac Warren Bell and Lydia A. Barlow, was born August 17, 1874, and died August 12, 1904

He married ALICE V. MANNING  c1895.    The daughter of Mark/Mack Manning, she was born in March 1877, and died unknown.  (I find a Marcus L. Manning who married Malissa Allen in 1871, Rankin Co Mississippi, are these her parents?)   Both are buried in Harrisville Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi

In 1910, Alice, age 32, a widow, is living with her father, Mark or Mack Manning, who is also a widower, along with a son, Wadie Bell, age 7.   I was unable to locate her in 1920, she probably remarried.

ESTHA RAY BELL, born December 27, 1897, and died October 14, 190_, burial in Harrisville Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi.

6. FLORA AUGUSTA 'GUSTA' BELL, daughter of Isaac Warren Bell and Lydia A. Barlow, was born February 17, 1877.  I did not locate her after Reuben's death.

She married REUBEN M. GAMBLE.  He was born in February 1868 (tombstone shows 1866), and died in 1904, burial in D'Lo Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi

BARRY / BARNEY M. GAMBLE, born September 1897 in Louisiana.  I found him in a 1920 Gonzales Texas census, age 22, with wife, Willie, age 19, and son Lawrence M., age 8 mo, boarders in the home of Frank and Alma Nations

7. CHARLEY E. BELL, son of Isaac Warren Bell and Lydia A. Barlow, was born January 21, 1880, and died March 30, 1957. 

He married NANCY ELIZABETH 'LIZZIE' MCLEOD. She was born December 30, 1880, and died March 12, 1957.  Both are buried in Harrisville Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi.
