WILLIAM6 GRANTHAM (Richard5, Richard4, James3, Edward2, Edward1) was born October 17, 1808 in North Carolina, and died March 30, 1899. -Tammy Westmoreland (Strahn Genealogy) shows his date of birth as 1806-

He married CYNTHIA BARLOW, daughter of Bryant Barlow and Nancy Herrington/Harrington.   She was born February 28, 1807 or 1817, and died January 26, 1899.

William and Cynthia are buried in a small family plot just off the Moselle-Ovett Rd. north of Perry Co Mississippi.

So where are Bryant and William in 1870? I find in Simpson Co Mississippi, a Brent Grantham, age 19, William, age 16, and Joseph, age 14, living next door to John J. Mahaffey.    Could these be sons of William and Cynthia?

In 1880 Jones Co Mississippi, William and Cynthia are living with their daughter, Phebe McGilberry and her family

JOHN7 GRANTHAM (William6, Richard5, Richard4, James3, Edward2, Edward1) was born c1838-9, and died March or May 26. 1924 in Beauvoir, Mississippi.

He married MARTHA6 HERRINGTON in 1871, Perry Co Mississippi, daughter of Sumrall and Lucretia Herrington. She was born 1848, (August 1850 in 1900 census) and died 1938, burial in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Church of God Church in Runnelstown, Mississippi / Rbt. Grantham shows her to be buried in Walters Cemetery, Perry Co Mississippi

I could not locate them in 1910, but in 1920, they both claim widowed... however.... they are both living:

John with his nephew and niece, James and Phoebe Runnells, and Martha with her son, William A.

I have not figured out just how Phebe is John's niece, but I believe she is the blood relation. In 1900, Phebe McGilvary was living in the home of James and Phebe Runnells, listed as 'Aunt', she being the daughter of Bryant Barlow and Nancy Harrington/Herrington, and the widow of Daniel McGilvary.

PHEBE M. GRANTHAM, born 1872.    She married S.S. THOMPSON   Bob Grantham shows her to have married JAMES DAVIS ROUNSAVILLE.

WILLIAM ALLEN 'BUD' / 'WILL' GRANTHAM, born June 1874 in Jones Co Mississippi.

He married TEMPIE A./TENNIE NOBLES, July 29, 1910 in Jones Co Mississippi. The daughter of Josiah Nobles, she was born c1876, and died February 10, 1913 in Forrest Co Mississippi.   (The 1910 census shows that they have already been married 9 years, and they have 4 children)  The 1920 census shows him to be divorced)   What is more confusing, is that in the 1910 census, he is 35, shown as Will, but his next door neighbor is William Allen Grantham, age 28 ...

DANIEL7 GRANTHAM (William6, Richard5, Richard4, James3, Edward2, Edward1) was born July 25, 1841 in Jones Co Mississippi, and died February 08, 1916 in Jones Co Mississippi

He married MARTHA MELVILLE c 1866-67. The daughter of David Melville, and Melvina Melvin, she was born October 09, 1844 (1900 census shows 1843) in Henry Co Alabama, and died February 27, 1914, in Jones Co Mississippi.

It is said that they are both buried in Union Cemetery, E. of Moselle, Jones Co Mississippi.  One researcher says that Daniel's tombstone is in a shed at a home of a grandson.   No other explanation.

In 1910, Daniel and Martha are living with son, Archie

CHARLIE ULANDROW GRANTHAM, born July 18, 1871, (1900 census shows 1872) and died March 11, 1936.

He married LEONORA 'NORA' SHOWS, December 28, 1898.   She was born October 1878, and died 1946.

Both are buried in Unity Chapel Church of God Cemetery, Jones Co Mississippi

Robert Charles9 Grantham, born September 16, 1899 in Jones Co Mississippi, and died May 1954.   He married Helen Bailey, they had no children.

Dorris Lafayette Grantham, born January 24, 1902 in Jones Co Mississippi, and died May 01, 1952.
He married Sadie Odum on October 03, 1924 in Jones Co Mississippi. She was born May 27, 1905 in Jones Co Mississippi, and died December 28, 1985. Both are buried in Union Cemetery, Jones Co Mississippi. One of their daughters married Julius Charles Myrick, brother to Emmie (see next)

Houston Devers Grantham, born February 06, 1904 in Jones Co Mississippi, and died October 1977 in Foley Alabama.
He married Emmie Stella Myrick, daughter of Wyatt Myrick and Georgia Sanford. Emmie was born February 14, 1909 in Jones Co Mississippi, and died March 23, 1994, Foley Alabama, both buried in Pine Rest Cemetery, Foley Alabama.

Rita Elnora Grantham, born June 05, 1907 in Jones Co Mississippi, and died 1998. She married Guy Sumrall, April 25, 1931.

ARCHIE OLETUS GRANTHAM, born March 16, 1874 in Ellisville, Jones Co Mississippi, and died January 15, 1955 in Ellisville, Jones Co Mississippi.

He married MARTHA A. 'MATTIE' NALL on April 07, 1896, daughter of David Nall and Sarah Ryals. She was born March 31, 1871 in Conecuh Co Alabama, and died October 23, 1936, (Her death certificates shows her dates as: April 31, 1874, and October 25, 1936)

They are both buried in burial in Mt. Olive Methodist Church Cemetery, Mt. Olive, Mississippi.

She married ANDREW JACKSON HERRINGTON, son of Joseph Herrington and JoAnn Shows.

He married MARY CANDIS HERRINGTON, February 25, 1902. The daughter of Joseph Herrington and JoAnn Shows, she was born February 07, 1880, and died May 15, 1959 in Jones Co Mississippi.

Both are buried in Union Cemetery, E. of Moselle, Jones Co Mississippi

Children of Roland and Mary are:   Ilous, born June 14, 1903 or 1907, and died September 29, 1977, married Thelma Williams c1926. She was born August 14, 1909, and died November 23, 1964. (From Woody Carter/ now deceased: Ilous had a school bus route for Moselle School), Carl Fisher, born December 26, 1904, and died November 23, 1964, did not marry (I find it curious that the death date of Thelma Williams Grantham and Carl are the same. I wonder if there is a transcription error here. Can anyone verify these dates?), Una Lee, born July 28, 1906, married Homer Jackson Craft. He was born February 15, 1906, and died July 1967. (These are the parents of Betty Craft Robinson), Mildred, born December 31, 1909, and died January 17, 1972, married J. Marvin Malley, and Juanita 'Pete' Grantham, born February 08, 1911, married J. Frank Pylatt. He died in July 1978

He married BEULAH HERRINGTON, January 01, 1911. The daughter of Joseph Herrington and JoAnn Shows, she was born January 21, 1885 in Union, Jones Co Mississippi, and died February 23, 1953.
