PRYOR / PRIOR TALLEY BERRY3 (John2, John1) was born June 03, 1816 in South Carolina, and died February 23, 1886 in Harrisville, Simpson Co Mississippi.

He married ELIZABETH 'BETSY' MYERS on March 03, 1836 in Scott Co Mississippi. She was born December 09, 1820, and died February 28, 1889.
Both are buried in Harrisville Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi
From 'Schools and Berry’s in Southwest Simpson County' by Rev. Glenn D. Shows:
Pryor and Betsy were both very large and it was said that together they weighed 500 pounds. Pryor affiliated, in 1853, with the Westville Lodge No. 78 of the Masons, located where Pinola is today. After the Civil War, Pryor moved his family by wagon to Texas where relatives had already moved. They moved around for a year, but Pryor was very particular and didn't find any place that he liked better than the place they had left in Mississippi. They returned, but two of his daughters remained in Texas and married there.

Simpson County Bits:
Pryor T. Berry developed a seed corn that is still used.

1 m under 5
2 m 20-30
1 f 20-30
I am unsure of who the 2nd male 20-30 is, he may be a brother of Pryor

Hanson is a son of William and Sarah but I am unsure of who William Berry is. He may also be a son of Wm, but is not counted in the enumeration of 1840. I was unable to locate Hanson in the 1870 census, but found a William who may be the same, the ages match, and he lives very near to Prior Tally Berry       >>>>

Children of Prior and Elizabeth are:   (click on links to see more about individual families)
Washington Jefferson 'Jeff' Berry4, born November 09, 1839 in Mississippi, and died November 18, 1909.
William W. Berry, born October 04, 1841, and died November 30, 1911
Henry Howard  or Houston Berry, born November 05, 1844, and died August 01, 1921
Emeline Sophronia Berry, born December 09, 1845, and died January 31, 1925
Altholoney / Angeline / Tryphena Berry - she may be a twin to Sophronia
She married William Pressler or Perry. The name and surname of spouse may be in conflict here, and these may be the same person. Searching the 1870 census records surrounding her parents and siblings, and also using soundex for the entire state of Mississippi, I have been unable to locate a record to identify this family. She may be one of the daughters who remained in Texas.
Gracie Edia Ann Berry born cDecember 1849 or January 1850, and apparently died before 1860
In 1850 census, is listed Gracie Edia Ann Berry, age 8 mo, but George is not listed. However, in 1860, George is listed as 10 years old, while Gracie is no longer listed ... perhaps they were twins. I have seen census records where their are known to be twins, and only one is listed. Neither has been located in 1870.
George E. Berry     Checking all George Berry's in Mississippi for 1870, none fit with his criteria.
Benjamin F. Berry, born September 15, 1853, and died January 22, 1929
