Lela Jane Fortenberry, born was born November 05, 1862 in Simpson  Co Mississippi, and died July 22, 1923, burial in New Hebron Cemetery, Lawrence Co Mississippi. * She married Samuel Earl Lee, Jr.   March 17, 1880 in Simpson Co Mississippi. The son of Samuel Earl Lee, Sr. and Bettye S. McNeese, he was born March 05, 1855, and died in 1941. Both are buried in New Hebron Cemetery, Lawrence Co Mississippi I am not at all sure that Lela is a daughter of James and Nancy.   She is not in the 1870 census, though there is a 'male, Lenard, age 8' If the census taker has made a mistake and the name and gender are both wrong, then it is possible that she would be married by 1880. If anyone has proof that she is or is not their daughter, please let me know. Children: Mary Lee, born 1881, and died 1970   She married S.
