Note:  Nancy Duff was a Barlow prior to her marriage to Hubbard Duff on 28 June 1844 in Barren Co Kentucky.  She is John T. Barlow's sister.

Joseph H. Barlow born about 1864.     Possibly, Joseph Herman Barlow, the evidence leads one to believe he is.   Click his name for more on that family, and if anyone can prove or disprove the relationship, please contact us.
Initial information provided by Bill Barlow   A DNA test was done for Joseph's family, and though it does not match that of the Germanna family we have online, this may be a second Germanna branch. A DNA test from one of John's known descendants could help to prove if Joseph is indeed a member of this family.

Tin S. Barlow born July 28, 1873 and died 07 July 1941      

John T. Barlow, Jr., son of John T. Barlow, Sr. and Juliann Gillock was born May 1847 [1900 census] in Barren Co Kentucky, and died 15 January 1927 in Barren Co Kentucky, 81 years of age, Vol 27 DC #00069  [KY Death Records]    His tombstone in Old Barren Cemetery gives dates 1845-1930.  Whoever had it placed apparently used 'about' dates.

He married Olivia.  She was born September 1855 [1900 census] in Kentucky, and died after 1920. 

Note:  Olivia is not living with John in 1910 and 1920, but I found her listed in the 1920 census living in Glasgow, Barren Co Kentucky, with three of their children.  The spot that indicates marital status is scribbled, could be divorced or separated.  I did not find her or any of the children that were with her in the 1910 census.   John does have 'widowed' on his marital status in both records!

He married Sarah J. Slaughter 12 December 1889 Monroe Co Kentucky.  She was born December 19, 1876, [cemetery records], [December 1873-1900 census] and died 24 November 1912, Monroe Co Kentucky, age 38 years   Vol 12   DC #28714  [Ky Death Records], burial in Isenberg Cemetery, Monroe Co Kentucky.

Tin S. Barlow was orn July 28, 1873 and died 07 July 1941 in Monroe, Monroe Co Kentucky, age 67 years  Vol 41  DC #18278   [Ky Death Records]        

He married Cora Alice Slaughter.  The daughter of George Washington Slaughter and Margaret A. Proffitt, she was born 20 March 1879 and died 22 April 1948 in Monroe Co Kentucky, age 70 years.  Vol 48  DC #08624  [Ky Death Records]

Tin S. Barlow and Alice are buried Ebenezer Cemetery, Monroe Co Kentucky.

Mr. Tin Barlow died at his home on the Bruce Ford farm near Flippin July 7 at the age of 68 years.

He leaves an invalid wife 62 years of age, who was Miss Alice Slaughter before her marriage.

Three sons and six daughters survive their father. Sons are Powell, Clurie, and Jay. Daughters are Mesdames Ella B. McConover, Dora Keys, Nellie Turner, Jay Keith and Vola Simpson and Miss Nora Barlow

Ella Mae Barlow born about 1895 in Kentucky.  She married 1.  Ace McConathy  2. James Alridge   3. Mr. Oliver
Children of Ella Barlow and Ace McConathy are: Dorothy Catherine, Leona, Otis, James, Lois, Betsy, Alfred, Richard, William, Mary Jean, and Charles McConathy. None of these children were raised by Ella, most were in foster care.

Name: Dora Keys   Residence: Tompkinsville, Monroe Co Kentucky  Died: At the Monroe County War Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, May 8, 1974, Age 74.

Daughter of the late Tin S. and Alice Slaughter Barlow.    Member of Baptist Church.

Sisters: Volar Simpson, Indiana, Nova Ford and Nellie Turner, both of Flippin Kentucky, and Ella Oliver of Frankfort Kentucky.

Powell S. Barlow born 27 August 1905 in Kentucky, and died 09 May 1950 when his arm caught in sawmill belt and it pulled him into it. He is buried in Ebenezer Cemetery, Monroe Co Kentucky.  [1910 and 1920 census shows him to be Cowell]

He married Clarcie Humes, daughter of Garfield and Loni Humes.

Clurie C. Barlow, born about 1912, and died in 03 June 1964, Monroe Co Kentucky, age 52 years, burial in Ebenezer Cemetery, Monroe Co Kentucky.    Vol 64  DC #13901    [Ky Death Records]

Coroner Says Foul Play Not Suspected

The body of Clurie Barlow, 52, was found in a field on Dr. Tim Lee Carter's farm near Tompkinsville about 4:00 p.m. Sunday. He had been missing for several days.

A coroner's jury, empaneled by Coroner Reed Deckard, reported that cause of death was not determined, but that foul play is not suspected.

The body was found by a 12 year old boy, the son of Mrs. Bertha Copass, who called Officers. Barlow worked for a local electrican Wednesday June 3, and had not been seen since. An investigation was headed by Sheriff Dale Bartley.

He is survived by nine sons, R. B. Barlow, G.C. Barlow and James Barlow, all of Tompkinsville. O.E. Barlow of Atlanta, Paul Barlow of Illinois, Clurie Barlow, Jr., Norman Barlow, Harold Barlow and Roy Dale Barlow, all of Versailles, Ky. two step daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Ferguson of Tompkinsville, and Miss Louise Barlow of Detroit, Mich., a brother, Norman Barlow of Indiana, five sisters, Mrs. Novie Ford of Fountain Run, Mrs. Ella Alridge, of Frankfort, Mrs. Volar Simpson of Indiana, and Mrs. Nellie Turner and Mrs. Dora Keys, both of Tomkinsville and two grandchildren.

Graveside services and burial was at Ebenezer Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Rev. Carl Elmore officiating. Yokley Funeral Home was in charge.

Nova Vell Barlow born about 1919-20, and died 02 January 1999, burial in Neal Cemetery, Monroe Co Kentucky.  

She married James Louis Ford      Children:  Harold, Charles and Reva Ford

Norman Jay Barlow born 21 September 1921, and died 04 March 1995 in Bradenton, Florida, burial in Freedom #2 Cemetery Monroe Co Kentucky.
He married Freelove Crowe.

Nellie Barlow was born 06 July 1897, and died 27 August 1986. 

She married William Harrison Turner on 09 January 1916, in Monroe Co Kentucky.

William Harrison Turner, son of Joseph Edward Turner and Elizabeth Jane Webb, was born 30 November 1858, and died 30 November 1929.  He had previously been married to Kitty Ellen Carter. 

Nellie and William are buried Turner Cemetery, at Salem Baptist Church, Monroe Co Kentucky.

Nellie Turner, 90, Rt. 4, died Thursday, August 27, at the Monroe County Health Care  Facility.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Alta Napper, Louisville, three sons, Edgar Turner, Tompkinsville, Beecham Turner, Louisville, Joseph Turner, Indiana, one brother Jay Barlow, Indiana, two sisters, Nova Ford Topmkinsville, Vola Simpson, Indiana 42 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services were Saturday at 2 p.m. at Strode Funeral home. Burial in the Turner Cemetery.

Delza Wilson Turner born 05 March 1917 in Monroe Co Kentucky, and died 23 August 1986 in Barren Co Kentucky
She married Robert Lee Wooten on 21 October 1933 in Barren Co Kentucky.  The son of Luther James Wooten and Nancy E. Piper, he was born 13 November 1909 in Barren Co Kentucky, and died 25 October 1980 in Barren Co Kentucky.
Children:  Herbert, Thurman, William and Hazel Wooten

Delza (Turner) Wooten, 69, Glasgow, died Aug. 23, 1986.

She was the daughter of Nellie (Barlow) Turner of Tompkinsville and the late William Harrison Turner.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by three sons -- Herbert Wooten of Texas; Thurman Wooten, Park City; and William Wooten, Arizona; one daughter, Hazel Duvall, Glasgow; three brothers -- Edgar Turner, Tompkinsville; Beecham Turner, Louisville; and Harlan Turner of Indiana; one sister, Alta Napper, Louisvile; one half-sister, Lillie Burks, Tompkinsville, and one half brother, Edward F. Turner of Iowa.

There are 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, August 25 in the chapel of A.F. Crow and Son Funeral Home, Glasgow, with burial in the Old Zion Cemetery.

Joseph Harlan Turner born March 19, 1929, and died May 30, 2004     He married Emma Kay Lawrence.
