I was unable to locate this family in 1880. In 1900, Martha is a widow, living in Cowley Co Kansas. Arkansas City, Cowley Co Kansas 04 June 1900 pg 16 #102/112 Widow, had been married 44 years, 7 children born, 3 living Grant and Maud both widowed, Maud had no children
There is a Martha Barlow, age 70, born in Missouri, in the 1910 Labette Co Kansas census, in an insane asylum, but I don't believe it is the one in question. |

Lincoln Grant Barlow was born October 1865 in Illinois, and died January 1963 in Coffeyville, Montgomery Co Kansas. (Leona Muckleroy) His wife's name is unknown, he married before 1894, she is deceased by 1900, leaving him to raise a son, Merle Barlow who was born in October 1894. In 1910, Lincoln G., age 45, a widower, and son Merle, age 16 are living with Oscar and Maud Windham (Grant's sister), and in 1920, Grant, age 55, a widower is living Wichita, Sedgwick Co with Merle, age 25, and his wife, Ruth, also aged 25. A Rootsweb record shows Lincoln's wife to have been Wilhemina Sarah Isham, who died in March 1895. |

ROLLO H. 'KID' BARLOW, 88, DIES TUESDAY Rollo Hopkins 'Kid' Barlow, 88, retired refinery employee, died at 5:20 last night at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Glenn 'Wilma' Rupert, 1117 West 11th. In failing health since January 16, he had been seriously ill for the past week. The funeral service will be held in the Ford Chapel with Rev. V. C. Buttermore, pastor of First Evangelical United Brethren Church, officiating. Burial will be in Robbins Cemetery beside Barlow's wife and son. The service hour is pending arrival of relatives. Barlow was born March 19, 1875 at Greenburg, Missouri, son of the late James and Martha Barlow. When a small boy he moved with his family to Anthony and at the age of 9 to Arkansas City. He married Miss Laura Vanera Taylor, August 01, 1899 at Arkansas City. They moved to Coffeyville in 1909. Barlow was employed at the National Refinery for 9 years and in the construction department at Sinclair Refinery until his retirement in 1942. He was a member of the Steamfitters and Plumbers Local 339. Mrs. Barlow died here October 29, 1929. The family home, prior to her death was 21 West 2nd. Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Joe 'Emma' Mercer, 806 East 7th, two sons, Walter, Tulsa and William, Philadelphia, Pa; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. (Wilma is not mentioned) Barlow's son Floyd Raymond, was killed in action on Iwo Jima, September 02, 1945. Four sisters and two brothers also preceded Barlow in death. |

NAVY MAN DROWNS (Original Article) P.O. Floyd Barlow, 28, Loses Life Sept. 2 at Iwo Jima, Wife Here Learns Petty Office, I-c Floyd Raymond Barlow, W.T. of the U.S. Navy, was drowned Sept. 2 at Iowa Jima, a message this morning from the Navy department informed his wife, Ruth, who is at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Eveleigh, 1112 West Twelfth. No details of the tragedy were given. Young Barlow, who was 28 on the 28th of last month, was the holder of selective service number 158, the first in Montgomery county to be drawn by the late President Roosevelt when the first drawing of draft board registrants over the entire nation was made. He entered service in 1942 and landed at at Pearl Harbor in October 1943. The last letter his wife received from him was written on Aug. 9. Survivors besides his wife are his father, R.H. Barlow of Liberty, and a sister and two brothers. |
