The Barlow Dude Ranch was located on the Conejos River, not far from Antonito, Conejos Co Colorado.

William H. Barlow, a merchant in Antonito, purchased the ranch in 1920 from "Old Bill" Cornett. William's son R.E. (Ed) Barlow, soon took over management of the ranch.   Ed Barlow married Lucille Louden of Monte Vista, Colorado in May of 1921.   Lucille became the bookkeeper, she also helped Mrs. Barlow, aka "Mother Barlow" who was the cook.

Mother Barlow was related by marriage to Heavy-weight Champion William Harrison "Jack" Dempsey. Her brother Ben Reidel, married one of Dempsey's sisters.

After William died (late 1930's or early 1940's) Ed, Lucille and Mother Barlow moved to Farmington, New Mexico (51 miles south of Durango, Colorado) The ranch was sold in 1945.
